Noël en français

When does the Christmas season officially start for you?

Maybe on the 1st of December, when you open the first door on le calendrier de l’Avent, or just a few days before le jour de Noël. Some of you might already be in the holiday spirit and others are just realising they haven’t prepared anything yet!

In any case, we are all very busy with our Christmas planning and we know that it might be hard to find a way to keep practicing French during this season. Of course, we should have priorities, and spending time with our loved ones should be at the top of the list. But, we want to propose a couple of activities you can do while you are on the train, waiting for your appointment at the hair salon or relaxing on the sofa once the children have finally fallen asleep.

Peux-tu me déposer chez moi? Je t'offrirai un thé à la fraise des bois.

• Volontiers, cher fantôme, dit le Père Noël.

Hold on! Do you want to know how the story continues? Listen to the rest of it! Isabelle, the founder of Prêt à Parler, tells you the full conte de Noël.

Whenever you have the time, work on your French listening comprehension with short audio files and videos. For that aim you can check out our podcast.

2. Les souhaits du temps des fêtes.

Do you normally send Christmas cards? Or emails wishing your workmates or family members 'Merry Christmas'?

If you have any person that speaks French around you, send them a lovely Christmas card or email (or even a text, if you don’t have too much time) in French! We help you do it!
