Bonjour tout le monde! I’m Isabelle, the founder of Prêt à Parler, and today I’d like to tell you more about an exciting project my Super Équipe and I have been working on recently. It's called "Prêt à Parler, Le podcast." I can't wait for you to listen to it!
If you’re new to our little family, bienvenue! Prêt à Parler is an online French language school based in Switzerland and specialised in helping English-speaking expats make French part of their everyday and business life.
Are you currently trying to improve your French comprehension skills? You are definitely at the right place! I hope that this podcast can be a place for us to share some extra tips and content that will complement your private lessons with our Super Profs, your independent studies using our e-learning platform "French for Everyday Life," and our daily bite-sized lessons on our Facebook and Instagram!
Each Tuesday, Catherine, the newest addition to our Super Prof squad, will guide you through different exercises, created specifically for different learning levels.
Vous êtes prêt(e)s? Here's what we have prepared for you:
- If you're just starting, then Le mot mystère is for you! Try to guess this mystery word based on a playful description Catherine will give you! The answer will be provided on the episode's notes, available on our website.
- Not a newbie anymore? La bonne nouvelle de Catherine is your next challenge! Listen to some good news from the francophone world! The perfect activity if you still need some help to get familiarised with the French Language's beautiful sounds!
- For intermediate learners, we have Le verbe craquant where you'll learn a new verb and how to use it in your everyday life.
- Expert learners are also very much welcome to play with us. For them, we've specially developed Prête-moi ta plume where you'll listen to an extract from a play, poem, novel, and much more from famous and lesser-known French-speaking artists.
I love this structure because it is open to all levels while proposing specific challenges to learners of more advanced levels! Also, each episode comes with a transcript that you can find on our website. If you have 30 minutes ahead of you, here is what we recommend to do for the best learning experience with us:
- First, listen to the episode once, without looking at the notes. Try to focus on getting a general idea of what you hear.
- Then, read the document while listening to the episode for a second time. Take some time to circle the new words you are learning and underline the ones which you still don’t understand the meaning so you can look them up later.
- Finally, listen to the episode for a third time and focus on Catherine’s pronunciation. Pour finir, read the text out loud and try to imitate her intonation as much as possible. We encourage you to record yourself and see how much progress from one week to another!
We hope our podcast will spark the curiosity to develop your French skills and, if you're already studying with us, that will keep you motivated to continue exploring!
So, join me on Tuesday, 10 November, for the first episode of Prêt à Parler, le podcast, available for free wherever you get your podcast!
Tous nos vœux de succès en français et à bientôt!
